WRIGHT

Wright is located in Molonglo Valley, north of Cotter Road and west of John Gorton Drive.

The Masterplan for Wright embraces the natural environment with the incorporation of wide tree-lined streets, open space, parks and cycle paths that connect the suburb. The majority of dwellings throughout the suburb are also an 800m walk to high-frequency public transport.

Residents enjoy exceptional access to surrounding facilities such as Stromlo Forest Park, the Molonglo River corridor and the National Arboretum Canberra. The community hub in Coombs is also close by giving access to local shops and Charles Weston school.

Link Park is the main park in Wright and includes shelter, fitness equipment and a public BBQ facility. There is also a large landscaped area for residents to enjoy. A boardwalk crosses Link Park and allows easy access from Dot Butler Street to David Fleay Street. Link Park also provides safe pedestrian access from Wright to Coombs under John Gorton Drive to allow children to walk or ride to Charles Weston School in Coombs.

The Section 23 open space includes a play area for younger children, a riding track as well as a climbing gym. The design focuses on the historic use of this area as a training ground for Robert De Castella and other renowned athletes, with a running track incorporated into the park. The park will feature the ‘Deeks Park’ signs which were salvaged after the 2003 bushfires and a large irrigated grassed area.

COOMBS

Coombs is located on the eastern side of the Molonglo Valley’s arterial road, John Gorton Drive.

With a cleverly designed layout, residents of Coombs enjoy the best of both worlds – a tranquil place to live with magnificent views of the surrounding mountains, and easy connection to facilities that support a thriving community.

Coombs will be home to Molonglo Valley’s first community hub, convenience will be front and centre in Coombs with the construction of the local shops underway and a community facility also planned for the suburb. Charles Weston School is also the first in Molonglo Valley to service the local area.

Coombs is also Canberra’s doorstep to nature, and is surrounded by walking trails, the Molonglo River, bike paths and parks. A fitness circuit with high quality equipment has also been created to make exercise convenient and fun. The 25 fitness stations support flexibility, strength, cardio and balance and are easily accessed by residents of Coombs and Wright with stations dispersed across both suburbs.
