Introducing the Strata Kickstarter traineeship

We’re excited to launch the pilot traineeship program, Strata Kickstarter — an 18-month journey that combines hands-on training and formal education to develop skilled strata managers and create prosperous career opportunities within Civium.

We believe great careers don’t just happen—they’re built, supported, and grown over time. That’s why we’re launching our Strata Kickstarter program.

This program is about more than just learning the ropes of strata management; it’s about empowering people to build long-term careers within the strata industry — something that our industry requires to deliver the service clients expect. It’s a first-of-its-kind initiative for Civium, and we’re thrilled to have, just this week, welcomed our first trainees on this exciting journey.

Why Civium are doing this

Strata management isn’t just about buildings—it’s about people, relationships, and making communities thrive. With over 20 years of experience, Civium has grown from a local agency to a national leader in strata management services. But as we’ve expanded, one thing has stayed constant: our commitment to developing talent. The Strata Kickstarter Program ensures the next generation of Strata Managers is equipped to meet the industry’s unique challenges with confidence and expertise.

What is the Strata Kickstarter program?

This is an 18-month program, with the pilot program launching in our ACT office, it is designed to immerse trainees in every aspect of strata management. From day one, they will rotate through our key departments, gaining hands-on experience and practical skills.

Here’s what they’ll explore:

  • Insurance: Managing claims, policies, and risk to keep everything running smoothly.
  • Levies Management: Understanding the financial side of strata, from issuing notices to debt recovery.
  • Maintenance: Coordinating contractors, processing requests, and ensuring buildings are well cared for.
  • Building Management: Overseeing assets, compliance, and resident needs while keeping operations efficient.

To support their growth, trainees will also complete a Certificate IV in Real Estate Practice. They’ll have one day every fortnight dedicated to study, balancing learning with real-world experience.

What’s the goal?

This program isn’t just about training—it’s about transformation. We want to see our trainees grow into confident, capable Strata Managers who understand every corner of the business, while also giving existing staff the professional development opportunity of expanding their leadership and management skills.

By focusing on long-term development, we’re:

  • Building stronger client relationships.
  • Creating consistent, high-quality service.
  • Fostering a culture of learning and growth.
  • Strengthening Civium’s reputation as a top employer.

It’s a win for our trainees, a win for our clients, and a win for the industry.

Why it matters

The Strata Kickstarter program is more than just a training initiative—it’s a reflection of our values. We believe in investing in people and creating opportunities that lead to meaningful, fulfilling careers. It’s about making strata management a long-term, rewarding path rather than just another job.
